An overview of the 5th AAC
The International Actuarial Association, in collaboration with the Moroccan Association of Actuaries, is organizing the 5th African Actuarial Congress, to be held in Casablanca on March 15th and 16th, 2018 at the Hotel Sofitel Tour Blanche.
This event follows the international congress in November 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa, which brought together over 160 participants from 15 African countries and other regions of the world.
As a recurring engagement of the actuarial profession, this congress aims to put the dynamics of the constantly evolving insurance, social security and banking sectors in Africa into perspective, through the lens of the actuarial profession.
President-Elect of the International Actuarial Association will testify to the role of international organizations in a changing world.

Considered the founding father of Solvency II, Mr Karel Van Hulle, a former senior official of the European Commission, will be the keynote speaker of the 5th African Actuarial Congress
Mr. Mohammed Hassan Bensalah is the Chairman and the CEO of the moroccan group HOLMARCOM and the President of the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies.
Mr. Hicham El Alamy is Director at the Moroccan Capital Markets Authority (AMMC).
Mr. Chris Daykin is a Consultant and independent trustee. He was the Government Actuary and head of the UK Government Actuary's Departement (GAD) until Septembre 2007.
Mr. Sundeep K Raichura is the President of International Actuarial Association Africa Subcommitee and the CEO of Zamara Actuaries in Kenya.
Qualified Actuary, member of the Moroccan Association of Actuaries (AMA) board. Worldwide expert in Pricing, Underwiting and Takaful with 25 years of experience in insurance. Executive and operational positions in large European and African insurance companies Currently Chief Operating Officer at SADA Assurance (DEVK Group).
Mr. Carlos Arocha is Secretary of the Leadership & Development Council of the Society of Actuaries and Ambassador of the Society of Actuaries in Switzerland. He is Maning Director of Arocha & Associates, a consulting firm based in Zurich.
Mr. Bachir Baddou is the CEO of the Transport Insurance Company and the General Manager of the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies.
Mr. Simon Brimblecombe is responsible for actuarial, investment and research activities at the International Social Security Association (part of the international Labour Organisation) in Geneva.
Dr. Mohammed Derrabi is the Dean of Casablanca Campus of Toulouse Business. He is member of the EPAS/EFMD accreditation board.
Mr. Stuart Wason is President of Stuart Wason Consulting. He has more than 40 years of actuarial insurer, consulting and supervisory management experience.
Mr Mohamed Larbi Nali joined Africa RE in July 2016. His entire career has been spent in insurance and reinsurance.
Mr. Youssef Fassi Fahri is the CEO of Société Centrale de Réassurance. He spent more than 20 years in various industrial actvities and his professional career was particulary marked by his success in supporting companies in their restructuring efforts.
Mrs. Renata De Leers is the Managing Director of ACB Consulting, based in Togo and Ghana and an expert in insurance and social security.
Mr. Thierry Poincelin is an expert in Actuarial Science, Associate Member of the French Institut of Actuaries and member of ''Actuaries Without Borders''.
Mr. Karim Hajji is the CEO of the Casablanca Stock Exchange, one of the largest exchange in Africa, and member of the world Federation of Exchanges.
Pr. Issouf Soumaré is the Director of International Relations of the Faculty of Business Administration and the Director of the laboratory for financial engineering at Laval University, Canada.
Jules Gribble is a qualified actuary. He is currently a Senior Policy Advisor with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) which he joined in July 2013.
